i tried to download the new version, when i do, it says-
the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005) click on ok to terminate the application
i tried all the suggestions about changing firwall and everything but it didnt work, please help as it is really really bugging me now!! especially as being on dial up it took an hour and a half to download grr

you might have an old operating system, or an old computer. Maybe you should upgrade that too, it might help.
people get annoyed enough without having more bots on messenger live, so i dont think anybody here is going to tell u how to run bots.

Sounds like:
Your personal firewall application is blocking the program hence you may have the setting on too high.
Also running some active virus checkers in the background may also effect the initialization of MSN.
I would disable any perosnal firewalls (Not Windows / Mac's firewall ) and lower your security settings and try again.
Remember to re active them later however.

when you go to www.msn.com and there will be an ad with windows live messenger.or just look up windows live messenger to download it!
you need to have windows xp with service pack 2
if you goto http://messenger.msn.com/
this will allow u to download the new messneger.
You can uninstall windows messenger, easiest way is to use XP-antispy http://www.xp-antispy.org/ Otherwise you can just have both versions installed at the same time.
Then download windows live messenger http://get.live.com/messenger/overview
Don't know about 8.1, but there is a live version of MSN plus, might work with it.
