I need to block msn messenger and windows live messenger for some users. how can i do that?

FYI, this task is nearly impossible.

Because you are only trying to limit this for some users, the only choice you have is to set up Group Policies on those computers to deny access to executables, like icq.exe, msmsgs.exe, etc...

But.......... you still can't prevent them from using web-based chats

If the user knows ANYTHING about proxy server, they can use proxies to access those sites as well....

To do it "right" like the big corporations, you'll need to set up your own proxy server, like ISA from M$ ( http://www.microsoft.com/isaserver/defau... ), setup group policy to force the usage of that internal proxy, and remove admin rights to all those users.

Even with those in place, you'll still have to constantly add to an ever expanding list of websites that let you chat without installing apps.

You see why I started with "this task is nearly impossible?" Good luck.....
